Project Overview
Project Overview: The Franklin Boulevard Partnership Project is part of the City of Springfield’s plan to transform Franklin Boulevard into a modern urban multi-way boulevard between I-5, to the west, and the Main Street Bridge over the Willamette River, to the east. Based on the current plans, the project is expected to impact 33 properties.
Plan for the Project Include:
- The construction of several roundabouts on Franklin Boulevard between I-5 to the west and the Willamette river to the east.
- Expanding and widening Franklin Boulevard to accommodate pedestrians, bikes, buses, and motor vehicles.
- The Project is expected to impact numerous commercial and residential properties along Franklin Boulevard.
Timeline:
- The City has already constructed two traffic circles and significantly widened the eastern portion of Franklin Boulevard to provide for pedestrian and bicycle lanes.
- In November 2023, the Project received an additional grant of federal funding through the Department of Transportation’s Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity, with design work for the remaining portion of the project underway.
